MCC MICROCHURCH

COMMITMENT

We are committing to be a Microchurch within the MCC Collective.

Understanding that a Microchurch is…

An extended spiritual family of servant disciples, that is led by ordinary people, who seek to worship, honor, and bring glory to God; live in everyday gospel community; pursue gospel saturation; and multiply disciples in their context.

To be incorporated as a Microchurch, you must have a minimum of 2 “units” in the Microchurch. A “unit” is considered to be a family, couple, or individual—a family of eight, a couple, or a single person are each 1 unit. Two Microchurch representatives, not of the same family, are required for a Microchurch. If you will have multiple Microchuch leaders, each of the leaders will need to sign.

MICROCHURCH PROMISES

  • We commit to come under the oversight of the Elder Team and connect with the Equipping Team.
  • We will teach church as identity—the church is an extended spiritual family—it is a people, not a place; the Church belongs to Jesus who is her Builder and Head.
  • We will support, encourage, and serve our Microchurch as our primary church family.
  • We will remain committed to regularly practicing together the elements which constitute a church—worship, family, and mission: Understanding that…
    • Worship is for the glory of God the Father, Jesus His Son, and the Holy Spirit; it includes the centrality of the Word—focus on the Incarnate Word (Jesus), reading and practicing the Written Word (Bible), and sharing the Proclaimed Word (Gospel); practicing the sacraments, including Communion and Baptism; and engaging in prayer;
    • Family includes regularly fellowshipping, communicating, and worshiping with others in your Microchurch; and practicing the “one-anothers” in Scripture;
    • Mission includes influence—inviting and discipling those you are sent to, or are around, into the family and worship of Jesus with you; and activism—loving and serving the marginalized, neglected, and broken in Jesus’ name.
  • We will seek to help every person a part of the Microchurch discover their identity in Jesus, their giftings to buildup and serve God’s family, and their space to live missionally; fostering an environment where they can grow and live out their witness as a Disciple, with the hope of them becomming a Missionary.
  • We will not pursue members of other Microchurches in the Collective without the consent of their Microchurch Leader(s) and at the discretion of the Elder Team.

MICROCHURCH RECOMMENDATIONS

The following are not required as a Microchurch but are highly encouraged:

  • We will be committed to a plurality of leadership (multiple Microchurch Leaders or apprentices) who guard the worship, family, and mission of the Microchurch and co-labor to multiply Disciples and Microchurches in pursuing gospel saturation.
  • We will create a covenant (agreement) for our Microchurch for the purpose of accountability, shared vision, and missional purpose.
