MCC MISSIONARY

COMMITMENT

I am (we are) committing to living as a missionary within the MCC Collective.

Understanding that a missionary is a Disciple who…

  1. Engages missionally in a specific context—to serve them in all love, bear witness to Jesus, plant the gospel, and form Disciples.
  2. Co-labors alongside Microchurch Leader(s) to multiply Disciples and Microchurches and pursue Gospel Saturation.
  3. Collaborates with, and is a voice within, the Collective.

While I realize that I may fail at times to fully keep the following commitments, I believe it is important that I purpose in my heart and confirm publicly my desire to keep these commitments as God my Father, through the power of the Spirit and for the glory of Jesus, enables me:

Bold words defined below

SPIRITUAL COMMITMENTS

  • I will continue to grow in my love for God our Father, surrender to Jesus as Lord, and life in the Spirit by moving from unbelief to belief in all areas of life.
  • I affirm the EFCA Statement of Faith and the MCC Collective Values.
  • I commit to rhythms around reading the Bible and prayer; engaging with and serving alongside my Microchurch family; and forming healthy relationships to plant the gospel in the contexts I exist in and am sent to.
  • I commit to living as a witness of Jesus the Lord and disicpling—to and through salvation—those whom God has placed around me and sent me to.
  • I will lead a moral life consistent with what is encouraged of God’s church in the Bible:
    • If I have a serious moral lapse—affecting my relationship with others or God—I will promptly bring it to the attention of my Microchurch Leader(s) and Elder Team.
    • I will cooperate with their counsel should it affect my ministry role.
    • Should church discipline be required to maintain my Christian witness, I will seek the counsel of the Elder Team.
  • I will maintain a healthy relational life. If any of my relationships experience problems, I will bring this to the attention of my Microchurch Leader(s), Equipping Team, or Elder Team for council in light of Scripture.

MICROCHURCH COMMITMENTS

  • I commit to seeing a Microchurch emerge and/or participating in a Microchurch as my primary church family.
  • I will consistently engage in worship alongside my Microchurch, build relationships with my spiritual family, and live missionally with them.
  • I will seek to reconcile with those who wrong me within my Microchurch and the Collective—following what Jesus laid out in Matthew 18.15-20. I purpose to conduct myself with humility and compassion toward my brothers and sisters in Christ. As God convicts me to do so, I will seek forgiveness from those whom I have wronged.
  • If any harmful behavior or abuse takes place to me or to my knowledge, I will promptly bring it to the attention of my Microchurch Leader(s), Equipping Team, or Elder Team.

COLLECTIVE COMMITMENTS

  • I will be an active advocate of the Collective vision to see Disciples multiplied, Microchurches emerge, and the San Antonio area saturated with the gospel of Jesus.
  • I will be a voice in the Collective,  helping to make decisions and giving guidance in all wisdom and fairness.
  • I agree to not exploit or use the Collective, other Missionaries, or my Microchurch for my own personal, financial, or emotional gain. I agree to serve them as best I can, placing their needs above my own.
  • I will consistently connect with the Equipping Team for training or coaching and have Collective engagement.
  • As God has blessed me, I will be a consistent and generous financial supporter of MCC.
  • Above all, I will love, remembering that this characteristic should mark us as Jesus’ disciples and remind the world of his life, message, death, and resurrection. As the Lord Jesus guides me, by his grace, with humility, through the Spirit and for the glory of God the Father, I fully commit to being a missionary in the MCC Collective for one year.
